Materials and construction

The MAL-KLAPP is produced in a carpentry workshop in the Thuringian Forest, the so-called "Green Heart of Germany". We use high quality beech wood, the blackboard/tabletop has a block-board construction.
The blackboard is coated with black-blackboard paint, making it jet-black (not dark-green) which gives chalk drawings more intensive colours.

You can choose between two different surfaces for the table/desk:

• melamine resin coating, matt white
• beech, real wood veneer

The surface of the wood is coated with a colourless sealer (Polyurethan) which makes it extremly hard wearing. This coating produces a non-toxic, wipe-claen surface. All coatings are free of heavy metals and comply with the European safety standard EN 71.
The MAL-KLAPP has been thoroughly tested for safety by the authorised technical examiners association (TÜV).
